About Bikaner University

The Bikaner University is the anchor of the Education of Bikaner. The Bikaner University was founded under the Bikaner University Act, in the 2003 and was given the notice on 7th June, 2003, in the gazette of Rajasthan. The Bikaner University very soon it made its own place amongst the various other big and known universities in the state. Bikaner University offers great facilities of infrastructure for its research fellows and students.

Not only the colleges in Bikaner, but many colleges from other districts of Sriganganagar, Churu and Hanumangarh also are affiliated and associated with the Bikaner University.

The Bikaner University is now also recognized as Maharaja Ganga Singh University or MGSU. More than 92,444 pupils were examined and enrolled in several faculties by the Bikaner University in the year 2004 for Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees and a few diploma courses as well and even more students were entered and examined at the Bikaner University the following year.

The Bikaner University was established with the chief aim of facilitating higher research and education in the northern section of Rajasthan. The Bikaner University spans over 1,100 acres. Set up with the objective of providing to the tertiary educational needs, the Bikaner University intends to achieve it through extension and research, teaching and by taking a stride to understand the local problems of the area which it is situated in. The Bikaner University displays many ecological constants like the famous Thar Desert where it’s located in and this kind of a set-up will not be found in the country anywhere or the world.

The Bikaner University has also been allotted quiet a huge piece of land, about 2 kilometres on the outskirts of Bikaner, in the Shrah Nathania village by government of the state for constructing another Bikaner University building.

The Bikaner University at present has about 92 colleges that are affiliated under it and they all fall in the Rajasthan districts of Sriganganagar, Hanumnagarh, Bikaner and Churu. Fourteen out of these Bikaner University colleges are government colleges while the remaining are private colleges.

The Bikaner University also set-up its very own department of Law for the 2004-2005 session and enrolled students in their LL.B first year.

There is a dean for every faculty at the Bikaner University and for each subject the Bikaner University also boasts a Board of Study that accesses and updates the program of associated subjects and suggests the Examination Panel to do the required changes. For all management and academic issues, the Bikaner University also has a Management Boards and an Academic Council. The Bikaner University has Research Supervisors as well in different fields who attend to the research work done by the Bikaner University scholars.
